Abstract:

The result of the study is to determine the contribution of the Arctic fishery and the fishing industry as a whole to the country’s food security, to develop proposals aimed at achieving and maintaining the regulatory level of fish consumption, and measures to improve the efficiency of foreign economic activity of the fishing industry.
Three levels of fish consumption by the population of Russia in 2010-2018 are calculated using the FAO methods: the potential one, taking into account both the import of fish products and due to only the Russian sources. The factors of reducing the level of fish consumption, such as a high level of export of caught fish, poor logistics and others, are revealed.
The reasons of low export prices for the RF fish products are identified as compared to the product prices of the countries with a similar raw material base. Measures are developed aimed at improving the efficiency of foreign economic activity.
When writing the article, the authors used empirical research methods, theoretical knowledge, systematic approach, economical and statistical methods and factor analysis.
The work results can contribute to increasing the participation level of the fishing industry in the implementation of the Food Security Doctrine and to improving the efficiency of foreign economic activity of the fishing industry.
