Abstract: The paper is dealing with the results of evaluation of the capabilities of modern technical equipment for lifting dumped and sunken facilities with reference to the lifting of the ‘K-27’ nuclear submarine dumped at 30-m depth in the Stepovoy Gulf of the Kara Sea. A justification is provided that widely operated hydraulic cable jacks and technological pontoons (barges-platforms) may be used as the basic elements for the ‘K-27’ lifting. The possibility of the ‘K-27’ lifting using accessible and proven methods and technologies may be of interest not only as an option for solving a specific problem, but also as a reference method for handling other bulky nuclear- and radiation-hazardous facilities dumped and sunken in the Arctic.
