Abstract:

The authors consider the role of the nuclear icebreaker fleet in achieving the national task of increasing in fright traffic in the water area of the Northern Sea Route. They analyze the prospects for the development of the nuclear icebreaker fleet for the period up to 2035 and present the information on the loading of nuclear icebreakers now and the creation of a national ice reconnaissance and monitoring service based on Marine Operations Headquarters at FSUE Atomflot.
