Research interests: biochemistry, analytical chemistry, toxicology of metals and persistent chloroorganic compounds, environmental and occupational aspects of human health, maintenance of data quality.

Member of projects in the field of chemical and biological work environment:

  • study of the particle-size distribution, morphological and chemical composition of solid inorganic contaminants in work environments (2015-2020)
  • study of lung function in the personnel exposed to oil mist on the shelf (2010-2018)

Since 2017, he has been a Leading Scientist at the Arctic Biomonitoring Laboratory of the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University (NArFU). Ingvar Tomassen coordinates research, supervises dissertation and master’s theses, delivers open lectures for a wide student audiences, and heads the Research Department of the Arctic Biomonitoring Laboratory

Ingvar Thomassen is the author and co-author of 190 scientific publications, most of which are dedicated to the problem of determining essential and toxic elements using atomic and electrothermal spectrometry, as well as other spectrometric techniques, such as inductively coupled plasma atomic emission and mass spectrometry. In the past ten years, Ingvar Thomassen has focused on the impact characterization and evaluation of environmental factors and occupational aspects on people’s health.
