GULIYEV, IBRAHIM SAID OGLU
Among the scientific activities of I.S. Guliyev most significant are the problem studies of mud volcanism. He and his colleagues conducted classical studies of the isotopic-geochemical composition of the products of mud volcanoes, rocks, oil, gas and water, created eruption catalogs with a detailed description of major paroxysms, volume estimations of isolated breccia, gas, water and oil. These studies allowed proposing a model of spontaneous excitation and decomposition of sedimentary rocks and, based on seismic data, proving the presence in the South-Caspian Trench of regional deconsolidation zone at deep water. Based on a comprehensive synthesis of evidence and theoretical premises, I.S. Guliyev together with Russian scientist V.V. Ivanov developed an original physicochemical model of mud volcanism. I.S. Guliyev and his colleagues were pioneers in the discovery and geological and geochemical study of submarine mud volcanoes and mud volcanic gas hydrates in the Caspian Sea. I.S. Guliyev reported his research results at dozens of exclusive international conferences and symposia and published in the world top geological editions. He is the author of 10 monographs, 222 scientific works, including 111 — published abroad, of which 50 — in indexed journals. | |||||||||||||
