Areas of scientific activity: research in the field of polar oceanology, sea ecology, geomorphology and ocean paleogeography. He developed a fundamentally new concept of marine exogenous processes in the Ice Age, created an original model of the Quaternary glaciation of the Barents-Kara region. He contributed significantly to the development of bio-oceanology, including the study of the biological productivity and the current state of the biological resources of the Western Arctic seas, to the creation of prognostic models for the evolution of polar ecosystems.
He is the author of more than 550 theoretical and scientific-applicative publications.
