Areas of scientific activity:
V.M. Kotlyakov is a leading Russian specialist in the field of geography and glaciology. He heads the Russian school of glaciology, develops general problems of geography, including mountain geo-ecology, environmental monitoring issues, and the strategy for the society development in relation to nature.
He is the author of more than 30 books, thousands of scientific and popular science articles, an editor of more than 80 books, practically of all domestic monographs on glaciology over the past 50 years.
