The areas of scientific activity are connected with the study of oil and gas fundamental problems, geological forecasting of oil-and-gas content with regard to geodynamics, identifying the mechanism of formation of hydrocarbon deposits, computer modeling of oil and gas natural reservoirs, the basis developing for new environmentally friendly technologies of the oil and gas industry. He created a new school "Geological and physical studies of the Earth energy structure". He introduced the fundamental concepts of the processes occurring in geosphere shells determining geodynamics, energy and the structure of the lithosphere.
He is the discoverer of 12 oil and gas fields.
